Prairie Foam and Country Home’s “Real-Life Redo”
Those of you interested in remodeling should visit the new issue (September 2008) of Country Home. Kathy Barnes, Senior Home Design editor, presents the short version in the magazine with lots of pictures of the remodeling of her family’s two-story Colonial by First Call Construction. Prairie Foam Insulators was chosen to spray The Icynene Insulation System®, one of the products used in the home to provide good indoor air quality. This aspect was particularly important for the family since one of the children is asthmatic.
Twenty-four million Americans suffer from asthma. The thermal envelope created by Icynene® creates an air barrier to minimize the intrusion of outdoor pollutants, allergens, and dust that contribute to poor indoor air quality. Combining The Icynene Insulation System® with proper mechanical ventilation reduces the airborne triggers for asthma to create a healthier indoor environment.

Icynene Distributes ESR-1826Icynene, Inc has distributed its new International Code Council Evaluation Service Report, ESR-1826. An ESR is a document issued by the International Code Council (ICC) confirming that Icynene meets the intent of the building codes.
The new ESR proves Icynene complies with the most recent building codes including the 2006 International Residential Code, 2006 International Energy Conservation Code, and 2006 International Building Code.
Due to superior performance in standardized fire testing, Icynene has been permitted to be left uncovered in attics & crawlspaces at 3.5 inches on vertical surfaces and up to 10 inches on the underside of the roof or floor over a crawl space. No other spray foam insulation is allowed to be left uncovered. Posted On July 16, 2008 | |
